Most of the streets in Windsor from the river to Grand Marais and County Road 42 run the same course. The names of many streets reflect the original Farm owners as well.

  • General Brock Public School, Shawn (guest) wrote 13 years ago:
When Sandwich Town was layed out in 1797, this square was reserved for school and government buildings. Originally it had a military barracks which was burnt by Americans during the war of 1812. Renovations and digs by an Anthropologist discovered British Soldiers who died as a result of their amputations during a skirmish. An Indian woman from a time before European settlement was also found near the river to the rear of this school.

This house was built around 1790, and was aquired by a fur trader by the name of Alexander Duff. Jacques Baby acquired the house in 1807. During the war of 1812 the Americans occupying the area used it as their head quarters.

This was the site of a Jesuit mission to the Huron Indians in 1742. The road that runs up to this point from the south is named Huron Church Road and is the busiest international border crossing in North America.
